Deposits of soluble minerals under the wheels of the trapped Mars rover but not in the upper layer support that water existed in liquid form recently on the red planet, otherwise the layers should be mixed by wind erosion.

I forgot to update this but there was another story a few days later claiming that "water" processes in Mars are caused by some other material (carbon dioxide?) but well...
ReplyDeleteAs for not being life, we do not know yet. Not big sized life seems pretty obvious but bacterial life seems difficult to detect, so it's a very reasonable possibility. If there was not in the past, human spacecraft should have brought it (but meteorites can also transport it in principle).
